These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to the Prayershake mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. Your agreement with us
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 to create an account. If the law where you live requires parental or guardian consent at an older age, you may use the Service only with that consent. If you use Prayershake on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.
2. What Prayershake provides
Prayershake helps people keep a private prayer rhythm, share prayer causes with invited people, record spoken prayers, send reminders and invitations, and see when others have prayed. Features may change as we learn and improve.
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available on every device. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features where reasonably necessary.
3. Your account
You are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping control of your phone and verification codes, and for activity through your account. Tell us promptly at support@prayershake.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
You may not sell, transfer, or lend your account, impersonate another person, create accounts to evade restrictions, or use another person’s phone number without permission.
4. Your content and prayer groups
You keep ownership of the causes, recordings, profile information, messages, and other content you submit (“Your Content”). You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, reproduce, transmit, and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service. This licence ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, subject to reasonable backup and legal-retention periods.
You are responsible for Your Content and for choosing who joins each prayer. Only share content you have the right to share. If a recording includes another person, make sure they know and agree before you upload it. Do not disclose someone else’s sensitive information without an appropriate reason and permission.
Private does not mean consequence-free. People you invite can hear or see shared content and may capture it outside Prayershake. Choose prayer participants thoughtfully and use Report, Remove, or Block when needed.
5. Using Prayershake well
You agree not to use the Service to:
- harass, threaten, shame, exploit, or deceive another person;
- share unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, or seriously harmful content;
- encourage self-harm, violence, or illegal activity;
- spam people, scrape data, or send invitations without a genuine connection or permission;
- upload malware, probe security, bypass access controls, or interfere with the Service;
- copy, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit the Service except where law expressly allows it; or
- infringe another person’s privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other rights.
We may review reports and take proportionate action, including removing content, limiting features, suspending accounts, preserving evidence, or contacting appropriate authorities where necessary to protect people or comply with law.
6. Safety, wellbeing, and spiritual guidance
Prayershake is a tool for personal and shared prayer. It is not an emergency service and does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, safeguarding, or professional religious advice. Content from other users reflects their own views, not ours.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For medical or mental-health concerns, seek help from a qualified professional. Where appropriate, speak with a trusted safeguarding lead or faith-community leader as well.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party platforms for functions such as app distribution, phone verification, notifications, media hosting, analytics, and diagnostics. Their services may be governed by separate terms. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but this does not affect any rights you have against us under applicable law.
Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service or its support. Your use of an iOS app must also comply with the applicable App Store terms.
8. Ending or suspending use
You may stop using the Service at any time. To request account deletion, email support@prayershake.com.
We may suspend or end access, remove content, or limit features if we reasonably believe you have materially or repeatedly breached these Terms, created risk or harm, or exposed us or others to legal liability. Where appropriate, we will give notice and a chance to appeal by contacting support. We may also discontinue the Service, in which case we will provide reasonable notice where practical.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer rights.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We are not responsible for user content, decisions made in reliance on it, or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. We will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, business, data, or goodwill where that exclusion is lawful.
If you use the Service as a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that was not foreseeable when you agreed to them.
10. General terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security, or our business. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate. Continuing to use the Service after the new Terms take effect means you accept them.
If one part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our agreement; we may transfer them as part of a merger, reorganisation, or sale of the Service, provided your rights are not reduced.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring proceedings that apply where you live.
